With reference to the exotic trees bought for Worthing seafront (The Argus, March 6) Cordylines have done well in English gardens after a series of mild winters.
The one in my garden is 15ft tall. The 18ft Cabbage Palms purchased for Worthing seafront will look spectacular when planted next month.
The worry is these impressive natives of New Zealand will be reduced to sad stumps if we get a severe winter.
If I had handed over £20,000 for these exotic giants, I would have my fingers firmly crossed.
