Worthing sprinter Gavin Stephens swept to a convincing victory in the British Universities Indoor Championships at the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow.
The former Sussex champion, who is at Brunel University, set 22.07sec, a remarkable time with two tight bends to negotiate.
Stephens also won a silver medal in the long jump in a personal best 6.90m.
Steyning's Sophie Hales collected another national title and championship record when she won the under-20 3km title at the National Indoor Centre at Birmingham.
She lapped each of her rivals at least twice during the 15-lap race and clocked 14min. 34.11sec.
Crawley's Ed Prickett won silver in the under-20 3,000m in 8min. 38.79sec, less than one second adrift of gold medallist Paul Moores, from Tamworth.
Andrew Dean, from Bognor, just missed a medal in the 800m (1min.56.12sec).
Former junior international cross-country runner Kevin Holland, from Crawley, made a welcome return to competition after several months off with a hernia at the Winchester 10km road race.
He finished fifth (34min.01sec), one place behind Brighton and Hove's Paul Froud (33min.49sec).
