Bears enjoyed their biggest win of the season by crushing Derby Storm 125-98 at the Thunderdome on Saturday night.

Nick Nurse's men had things their own way and Sterling Davis closed in on 500 points for the season by hitting 21.

Bears produced a 10-0 run on the way to leading 27-18 at the end of the first quarter and a 7-2 burst at the start of the next put them in control as they crossed over 55-40 ahead.

Derby were unable to launch a comeback in the third period and Bears, who went into the final session 90-73 in front, rammed home their superiority by closing the game with a 27-15 run.

Bears shot 16 of 32 three-pointers with Mark Jackson making the most of 19 minutes on court to hit five from outside the arc. Mike Brown and Randy Duck added three apiece with Duck piling up 12 assists.

Wilbur Johnson claimed ten rebounds while Tyler Peterson grabbed 12 boards for Storm. Daniel Hildreth had six assists against his old club.

Bears: Duck 22, Davis 21, Jackson 19, Farrington 19, White 18, Brown 13, Seaman 8, Johnson 5.

Storm: Robinson 24, Kennedy 22, Peterson 20, Miller 14, Balser 9, Grifin 9.

Meanwhile, Worthing Thunder slumped to an 83-78 defeat at Inter-basket despite a fourth quarter revival.

They trailed by 18 going into the final period but put together a 14-0 run and were just two down with 80 seconds remaining.

Then Sean Hampton caught Laurent Irish as he went for a three-point shot and Gary Smith was called for a bewildering technical foul. Hampton sat down with five fouls and could only watch as Irish sank all five free throws.

Thunder today denied they had sacked skipper Paul Mundy-Castle, though he has not been paid for recent matches he failed to attend. Mundy-Castle was top three-point shooter at yesterday's All-Star game.

Thunder: Moore 29, Hampton 25, Martin 13, Addy 7, Smith 2, Brame 2.
