I am a resident of Vallance Gardens, Hove. Only about 50 per cent of the properties have off-road parking here, not "all of them" as Trevor Pateman stated (Letters, February 27).
There are a lot of flats on the eastern side of the road and I, for one, have to pay for residents' parking during the hours when I am at work and paying for parking elsewhere. After 8pm, things would look a lot different to the morning photograph published because the King Alfred and Cheetahs gym users descend on our street.
On another note, my partner lives and works in London during the week and is in Hove at weekends only, yet I can only obtain a maximum of 52 one-day visitors' permits in a 12-month period yet there are 104 weekend days in a year. Ludicrous.
