Police today released this CD-fit picture of a man who indecently assaulted a teenage girl in a West Sussex churchyard.

The 17-year-old girl was walking through the grounds of St Andrew's Church, Steyning, when she saw the man approach her.

They passed each other, then he turned back in her direction. As she moved aside to let him by, he grabbed her and assaulted her.

He walked off and his victim last saw him standing by the church doors.

The assault took place at 4pm last December 19.

The attacker was scruffy, in his 30s or early 40s and between 5ft 8in and 5ft 11in tall.

He wore faded blue jeans, a dark, zip-up waist-length coat and black shoes.

The coat was undone and appeared to be too big for him. He was carrying a Somerfield bag and possibly an umbrella.

Anyone who recognises the man is asked to contact PC Simon Goulding at Steyning Police Station on 0845 6070999 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
