While we appreciate the positive comments about us as community councillors and our experience with representing local people (Voice Of The Argus, January 29), we have to take issue about the prediction for the outcome of the next local election.
The Argus is making assumptions from a traditional point of view without taking into consideration the new ward boundaries and the way in which people have "wised up" to the way they want councillors to represent them.
Traditionally, the block vote was a given but residents in Brighton and Hove actually care that the Citizens' Advice Bureau, among other voluntary organisations, is being starved of funds and having to close.
The closure of residential and nursing homes means their relatives have to stay in hospital wards long after they have recovered.
These are a few of the reasons the people of Brighton and Hove will cast their vote in the next local election for councillors who want to make a difference and are not preoccupied with position and status.
