Brighton-based NVisage has used its online expertise to scoop a big National Lottery win.

The new media design agency has been chosen to design a new web site for the National Lottery Commission.

NVisage is working in partnership with Brighton-based Easynet, which will be providing the servers and hosting facilities for the site.

The commission's site is predominantly a public information portal, aimed at anyone who is interested in the way the lottery is run and who regulates it.

The commission's job is to ensure the lottery is run with due propriety and the interests of competitors are protected.

The commission, headed by Harriet Spicer, also has to ensure the amount of money available for good causes is maximised.

The UK lottery is the most successful in the world. So far, it has raised more than £10.9 million for good causes and given out £13.5 billion in prizes.

NVisage senior account manager Harvey Atkinson said: "The market is looking good for us. We have a balanced mix of clients in the private and public sectors which ensures, should there be a downturn in the market, we are covered.

"As other multimedia companies have suffered due to the downturn, we have gone through a period of expansion."

The company said sales figures were up 50 per cent on last year and it was recruiting new staff.

NVisage is a full multimedia agency, employing 12 staff to produce and design web sites, develop bespoke software and provide consultancy.

Five staff will be working on the lottery project, which is due to be completed in February.

NVisage's customers include the publishers Emap, the East Midlands Development Agency, and the Community Council of Lincolnshire.

Mr Atkinson said the company had grown consistently since it was founded in 1997.

He said: "We have clients in all parts of the UK and some of them have strong overseas links. But at present we have no plans to set up overseas."
