Middleton and Bognor Royals progressed to the second round of the Timpson Trophy, the national mixed competition, with a convincing 10-2 win over Canterbury.
Centre forward Simon Morgan was in outstanding form, his ferocious striking resulting in a first half hat-trick. Further goals by Mhairi Maclean, Matt Ansell and Mark Pacey saw Royals lead 6-1 at half time.
A defensive error early in the second half saw Canterbury score their second but the Royals were too strong for them and goals from Sara Morgan, Grant Skinner, Simon Morgan and Dave Clayton completed the rout. Royals are hoping to reach the finals weekend for a third year in in a row.
Meanwhile, East Grinstead moved into the last 16 of the EHA Veterans Cup with a 5-1 victory away to Bowdon.
The goals came from Richard Leman (two), James Leman, Andy Bass and Paul Lloyd.
