St Leonards beat Wisbech 2-1 in their vital Dr Martens East relegation clash and are off the bottom of the tabe.

The match went ahead after a final inspection just 40 minutes before kick-off St Leonards took the initiative after ten minutes when Des Boateng went close, then man of the match Simon Fox headed just wide of the far post.

Saints broke the deadlock after 25 minutes when the Danny Fletcher and Roy Godden combination stretched the home defence, leaving Fox unmarked to meet the flick on and place his shot wide of the keeper.

Wisbech levelled four minutes into the second period when keeper Odlum failed to collect a chest down from defender Smith and David Cobb was on hand to poke the ball home.

On 68 minutes Hill again failed to get the ball back to his keeper with an under weighted pass and this time Boateng was able to round him and restore the visitor's lead.
