An armed robber who targets off-licences and newsagents in Brighton and Hove has struck for the 11th time.

He threatened a woman assistant at the Thresher wine shop in Western Road, Hove, with a knife.

He made her lie face-down and took hundreds of pounds from the till.

Police are linking Saturday night's raid to others at off-licences and newsagents in the city.

The Argus and Sussex Police have offered a £2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the raider.

Detectives believe the man, who has put knives to victims' throats, may seriously injure someone if he is not captured soon.

His latest victim said he was wearing a blue jacket and black trousers.

Detective Inspector Paul Fullwood, heading Operation Typhoon, said: "The level of violence has increased over the months and we are increasingly concerned."

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Brighton CID on 0845 6070999 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Police have named a man they want to talk to in connection with the robberies, Sean William Donoher, 36, who has had addresses in Brighton and Hastings. He is 36, 6ft 4in tall and slim with long hair.

Police said he should not be approached and anyone spotting him should dial 999.
