I caught the 8.17am train from Hassocks last Saturday, not realising it was to be full of football supporters from Brighton.

I was on my way to Guildford, changing at Gatwick, and so were they. There must have been a game out west somewhere.

What a noisy, messy and rude lot of individuals they were too. Most had cans and bottles of beer, which they discarded wherever they wanted.

The noise was deafening at times, with many of them shouting down their mobile phones.

Several were up and down in the corridors, pushing past anyone who got in their way. They should not be allowed to travel on public transport.
