Eastbourne's mayor had coffee with customers at the official opening of a caf with a difference.
The Tchibo coffee shop also doubles as a retail store.
Eastbourne mayor David Stevens cut the ribbon at the launch of Tchibo before settling down with a cup of frothy cappuccino.
The German company which started in 1949 officially opened its first shop in Sussex in Terminus Road, Eastbourne, yesterday.
The Eastbourne store, which was formerly Burton's, employs ten staff and becomes one of 12 Tchibo shops across the UK.
Alongside its range of coffees, Tchibo sells everything from clothes, jewellery and DIY equipment with a different theme each week.
Store manager Ian Morton said: "All the indications suggest this is going to be a huge success in Eastbourne."
