The body of a man has been found on a derelict pier.
Camermen making a video discovered the body in the theatre at the seaward end of the West Pier, Brighton, yesterday.
Syringes and other drug paraphernalia were near the body and police do not suspect crime.
Police believe the man, in his thirties, died between 24 and 48 hours before.
Visits to the Grade I listed pier were cancelled recently because they are too dangerous and a special police search team had to be called in to recover the body.
Firefighters stood by with safety equipment to assist and Brighton and Hove City Council officials were called in.
Detective Inspector Paul Fullwood, leading the inquiry, said: "We are keeping an open mind as to how the man died but we do not suspect foul play at this stage."
Mr Fullwood said a post mortem would be carried out to determine the cause of death.
He appealed to anyone with information or who may have seen the man going onto the pier to call Brighton CID on 0845 6070 999.
