Brighton maintained their impressive title challenge in the Kent/Sussex Regional League with a 7-2 victory over Sussex rivals Worthing.

The scoreline may have flattered Brighton but there was no disputing the quality of their finishing.

Egyptian internationals Mohamed Nagey and Mohamed Samak were always at the hub of things as Brighton kept the pressure on league leaders Holcombe.

With nine games played, they remain a point behind Holcombe with a home clash to follow with the leaders in the second half of the season.

Skipper Carlo Missirian said: "The difference at the moment is our second half displays.

"The fitness level is important but I think clinical finishing is the key. In the past we haven't been so clinical.

"The reason we are doing well is because we are not relying on one person. We have five or six who are scoring regularly.

"Samak hasn't scored for a while but is a creating plenty and it is the same with Doc (Richard Cooke), who was our top scorer last year. You then have Dave Delea and Graham Pruce chipping in as well."

Worthing skipper Simon Holloway said: "The two Egyptians are something else. I could not believe the quality of their short corners.

"I didn't think we played badly but at the end of the day Brighton were the better side. Good luck to them because I would rather a Sussex side won this league than a Kent side."

Worthing pulled the score back to 2-1 early in the second half when Mark Minchell scored from a short corner but Brighton produced an excellent display of finishing after that and Dave Clayton's individual goal was the visitors' only other consolation.

On target for Brighton were Nagey (two), Pruce, Delea, Missirian, Dan Hacking and Cooke.
