Albion fans returning from a 1-1 draw with Swindon were escorted from a train because of rowdy behaviour.

A total of 60 fans annoyed passengers with boisterous behaviour on the train from London Victoria on Saturday night.

Despite attempts by passengers and railway officials to calm them down, they continued shouting, drinking and singing football songs.

When the train stopped at Gatwick, just before 8pm, they were escorted off by British Transport Police and told to calm down and wait on the platform for the next available train.

Six fans refused and had to be coaxed off or forcibly removed by police officers.

A police spokeswoman said: "We were alerted that the Brighton fans were getting too rowdy on the train.

"Police met the train and they were separated and told to wait for the next one while they calmed down. No arrests were made."

Almost 3,000 Albion fans made the journey to Wiltshire.
