Albion ace Bobby Zamora is on the brink of emulating a club record after completing a magnificent seven.

The 16-goal wonder boy scored for the seventh match in succession in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Swindon to keep the Seagulls on top of the table.

Zamora will equal the record of eight, held amongst others by Arthur Attwood, if he strikes again at Bury on Saturday.

He cheekily lobbed stranded Swindon keeper Bart Griemink from a long clearance by Michel Kuipers to give Albion an early lead.

Boss Peter Taylor said: "It was very calm. He's an excellent finisher and that is why he has got the amount of goals he has.

"A lot of people would have gone for power and hit it a touch earlier, but he took his time. We are creating chances and that's very important. Of course I would love other people to score as well, but as long as Bobby keeps scoring then we have got to be happy with that."

Taylor was less impressed with Kuipers' contribution to Swindon's second-half equaliser, which leaves Albion above Stoke by virtue of a one better goal difference.

Kuipers' throw put Paul Watson under pressure, Robbie Pethick gave the ball away to Wayne Carlisle and his cross was slid in by Eric Sabin.

"Unfortunately we gifted the opposition a goal again," Taylor said. "We were in control, Michel had the ball in his hands and probably made the wrong decision by throwing it out to Paul Watson.

"Thankfully nothing else happened after that and it's a good point. If we hadn't conceded a poor goal I think we would have looked quite comfortable."

Defender Kerry Mayo, back in the starting line-up after a stomach upset, said: "To get a point was a good result.

"We would have been happy with that before the game, but we were disappointed to concede a goal. At half time we were coasting and all the lads were confident.

"We were under a little bit of pressure when they scored, but it's times like that when you should calm down and take your time. We tended to rush things and we got punished for it."

Albion are now unbeaten in nine outings under Taylor and will match that run away from home if they get a result at Bury.
