Sussex boss John Suter rued missed chances as his side were held 1-1 by Guernsey at Culver Road.

Phil Churchill's close-range finish gave the hosts a second-half lead in their South Western Counties Championship tussle.

But they failed to kill the contest off and were punished when Jason Dumbrill was beaten to the ball as he came off his line.

Dumbrill later produced a super save to at least make sure Sussex got a point but it offered little consolation to Suter.

He said: "We had 80 per cent of the play so to only get a point is disappointing.

"Our wide players had a lot of possession but they did not always play the right ball and missed some some good chances."

Churchill, Ashley Carr, Gary Young, Gareth Green, Julian Curnow and busy wideman Paul Williams all let the visitors off the hook in front of goal.

Sussex have opened with two home draws as they bid to defend their title.
