MONDAY: Boss Peter Taylor calls on Albion to do "another professional job" in the FA Cup second round to secure the chance of a clash with the big guns.

After squeezing past Shrewsbury in round one, next up is a home tie against Rushden and Diamonds.

"I'm pleased with a home draw, that is all you can ask for," says Taylor. "It's another Third Division team, so we have got to watch out."

The Seagulls are hopeful the Saturday veto of matches at Withdean in December can be lifted again.

Chairman Martin Perry reveals: "We will talk to the Council. We played on December 2 last season, so it has been relaxed in the past."

TUESDAY: An equaliser deep into injury time earns Brentford a 1-1 draw at Huddersfield and takes them back above Albion at the top on goal difference.

Gary Hart is set to return to the side after missing the Shrewsbury match through illness.

WEDNESDAY: Albion, minus an unwell Kerry Mayo, lead the way again by a point with a 1-1 draw at home to Peterborough.

Bobby Zamora scores for the sixth game running and takes his tally for the season to 15 with an early penalty.

A rare mistake by Michel Kuipers presents Leon McKenzie with an equaliser ten minutes later and Kuipers' opposite number Mark Tyler keeps out the Seagulls.

THURSDAY: Taylor plays down the presence of Southampton manager Gordon Strachan at last night's match.

"He might have been looking at him (Zamora) or at somebody else, you never know," Taylor says. "We've had no bids for Bobby since I have been at the club."

Taylor is oblivious to claims by Joe Kinnear on Luton's website that he wants Matt Wicks. "That's news to me," the boss responds.

FRIDAY: Boss Peter Taylor calls in a pitch consultant to try and improve the surface at Withdean before the televised FA Cup second round tie against Rushden and Diamonds in a fortnight's time.

Taylor believes the pitch, which is hard underneath the top surface, is making his players tentative and contributed to the mistake by Michel Kuipers in the game against Peterborough.

Taylor said: "We've had a specialist look at it and they have some ideas to make the surface softer. I'm very hopeful that by the time we play Rushden there will be some improvement." Around £100,000 was spent on drainage work last summer.
