What about the rink in Queen's Square? I know it's small but it's not invisible.
I'm 60 and have never forgiven Brighton and Hove City Council for doing away with the sports centre (the old SS) without a sensible replacement.
I shall be glad not to have to travel to Guildford in order to have a decent-sized ice pad to skate on, even if only for a week.
But, as for the youngsters, having whetted their appetites for skating, where will they go? They won't all fit in the Sussex Ice Rink.
It is typical of this pathetic city, having once been a shining light on the "great ice way", that we are reduced to going "hip-hip-hooray" because we can skate for week, while a place such as Guildford can have the superb Spectrum Centre (council-run) that features not just an international-size rink but also a 32-lane bowling alley, a swimming complex and a plethora of indoor and outdoor activities all on the one site.
Pardon this "youngster" for not being too ecstatic.
