In response to "Messterpiece" (Letters, November 14) concerning the Remembrance service at Brighton war memorial, I would like to make the following points.

Both the PA system and the chairs for disabled people are put in place as late as possible to minimise damage from bad weather or vandals.

The platform for the march-past is put in place every year as late as possible to avoid accidents.

The Salvation Army representatives were aware of their allocated space and did not raise any concerns regarding the railings. They usually prefer to step over rather than round them.

The photographer was there to do a job and, judging by the coverage by the Press, did very well.

The mayor's secretary was some three feet any from the microphone during the ceremony and did not hear any adverse comments from the parade marshal.

The Royal British Legion had been given 400 copies of the order of service for distribution to members of the public.

A further 100 were made available on the day, these being distributed by volunteers.

Both the Royal British Legion and Combined Ex-Servicemen and Women's Association should be congratulated on the part played by them in the various Acts of Remembrance.
