Readers may remember my asking whether our listings in Friday's If It's On... section should cover more than just the forthcoming week.

Tour guide and lecturer Glenda Clarke doesn't think so: "In my experience, the majority of people decide what to do with very little planning so the idea of two weeks' listings wouldn't be helpful to them.

"I used to be booked as a guide weeks, even months, ahead but now that rarely happens.

"Last week, I had a call from a group inquiring about a tour and it was already on the way down the M23. Talk about leaving it to the last moment!"

John Sanderson, of Worthing, says he is surprised I haven't previously mentioned our "habit" of showing answers to Saturday's newsquiz as "d" when the choices are only "a", "b" and "c", the latest example being question 4 last Saturday (Where does a cannabis campaigner hope to set up an Amsterdam-style caf?).

He adds: "It is especially annoying if I don't know the correct answer (not this time)!"

Sorry, Mr Sanderson, we'll try harder in future and, for those who didn't know, the answer was Worthing.

Apologies, too, to Tom Chilton, of Hove, whose letter published last Friday was misprinted.

He suggested to save money on a new lift at Hove library the children's section could be moved to the ground floor.

In fact, it should have said it was on the ground floor but could be swapped with the reference section on the first floor to save elderly borrowers the climb (hence no need for the lift).

Tony Raven, also of Hove, asks if he can make "one small suggestion to our excellent local newspaper" and that's for us to provide a weather forecast for each day and the following day.

At the moment, he points out, readers of the evening edition find out what has been rather than what's coming. Quite right, Tony, and I predict we'll change.

Nigel Pullen, manager of the Green House Effect, says our Wednesday Extra's list of planning applications wrongly refers to Portslade South as being in Brighton. "Please try to get this right," he pleads. We will, Nigel.

A picture caption last Thursday for Brighton College's Guys and Dolls production stated "Nathan Detroit, 14, plays gambling promoter Fred Lancaster." Actually, Fred plays Nathan!

A story in Evolution on November 6 about Brighton-based Neujuice's design of a web site for the FTSE Ethical Share Index stated Tesco and the Royal Bank of Scotland were excluded when in fact they are not.

The error was due to wrong information supplied by Neujuice, which apologises.

Finally, my Feedback friend John Bartlett, from Shoreham, objected to our national news page story last Friday that began "Cherie Blair and United States First Lady Laura Bush are to spearhead a campaign ... "

Says John: "The clear implication is that Cherie Blair is the United Kingdom's First Lady.

"She most certainly isn't - that title belongs to HM The Queen - and it is of regret the Press (even The Argus) makes this cardinal error."

Sorry, John, but I disagree. Not that the Queen isn't number one but that we said Mrs Blair was.

Our use of "First Lady" quite clearly referred only to Mrs Bush. And that's not to mention those people who may believe either that Mrs B is effectively First Lady or that it's an irrelevant term anyway. To the tower, Bradshaw ...
