Leaders Bognor were held to their fourth successive draw in division one against solid Slough Town at Nyewood Lane.

Manager Jack Pearce has happy enough with the goalless deadlock.

He said: "That was a good home performance apart from in the vital areas. We created two to three good chances but unfortunately didn't take them."

The visitors started brighter before Bognor went forward and Michael Birmingham saw his far post cross volleyed narrowly over by Guy Rutherford after playing a one-two with Simon Funnell.

Michael Bartley should have given the visitors the lead but shot over with just Craig Stoner to beat.

Funnell curled the ball past goalkeeper Gary McGann and the far post after Andy Walker had created a good opportunity.

In the second period, Bartley and Funnell had chances to break the deadlock but were denied by saves.

Bognor created the better openings and, when Rutherford found Matt Russell in the box, the striker should have tested McCann, but he was unable to get enough power in to his far post header.

Substitute Nicky Wyatt, who replaced Funnell, had a close-range effort tipped over by McCann following a knock down by Russell.

Worthing were denied a first division one win in five games by a stoppage time goal from substitute Roni Joe in their 1-1 draw at highly fancied Aylesbury.

Joe cancelled out a 30th-minute opener from Gavin Geddes with a right-foot shot past keeper James Wastell after Rebels gave him too much time on the ball.

Geddes should have made the points safe for Worthing moments earlier when, through on goal from a Darren Baxter pass, he shot wide.

Geddes was off target on three occasions in the first half while Wastell twice kept out accurate free kicks from Dwaine Clarke. The goalkeeper did well to save a header from Peter Clifford.

Clarke forced Wastell to save 15 minutes from time. ThenAylesbury's Frank McCormack might have equalised had his goal bound shot not been blocked by one of his team-mates.

A frantic finale saw the hosts' Steve Clark head narrowly over, and Rebels' Ben Carrington hit the post.
