It could be just like old times when Intermediate Cup action returns to Horsham next week.

The resurgent Coolhurst club tackle Old Blues in one of four national cup ties involving Sussex clubs.

Horsham had won four out of four in Sussex One ahead of today's summit meeting with Heathfield, as well as scoring narrow cup wins over regional league opposition in the Intermediate.

It is not that long ago that they used to lock horns with Park House in regional league action.

The Hayes-based outfit have suffered a similar sort of demise to Horsham in recent seasons, without the subsequent upturn in fortunes.

Before today they were rock bottom of Kent One, with four defeats from four.

They did, however, topple Four South East outfit Beccehamian 23-10 in the first round of the Intermediate before winning 25-7 at Surrey One outfit Old Caterhamians.

Horsham skipper Guy Hannell is cautiously optimistic. He warned: "It would be easy to say 'it's only Park House' and then slip up. We have got to be professional about it.

"These cup games are unpredictable but we are looking forward to it. It's good money for the club and valuable experience for the players."

Heathfield will start as favourites to knock out the Chichester side they beat 28-0 in the league last week.

Coach Herb Merritt enjoyed that one, admitting his side's gameplan was basic but effective when carried out for the full 80 minutes.

East Grinstead might fancy their chances away to a Sevenoaks side who have struggled so far in London Two South.

Gs have stitched together three successive wins recently without really hitting top form.

Newick are away to Bexley in the Junior Cup.
