Lewes suffered only their second league defeat of the season in Ryman division two as they went down 1-0 away to Marlow.

With an FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie at Mangotsfield on Saturday, this was not a match Lewes particularly wanted.

The only goal of the game came in the 17th minute when James Pritchard bent a free-kick around the wall and into the right hand corner giving Lewes goalkeeper Michael Lidbury no chance.

The Sussex side tested the home keeper on 27 minutes when an excellent shot on the turn from Sam Francis was well held by Lee Carroll.

A minute from half time Lewes were denied a blatant penalty when the most obvious of pushes on Marc Cable went unnoticed by the officials.

Lewes took the game to Marlow during the second period but were unable to break down a defence that gathered numbers as the game went on. However, Dominic Shepherd and Francis forced Carroll into good full length saves.

Arundel beat Littlehampton 2-0 in the Sussex Senior Cup thanks to goals from Jason Wimbleton and Nick West.

Phil Churchill grabbed a hat-trick and Steve Harper also scored as Burgess Hill won 4-0 at Selsey in the Floodlight Cup.

Pagham suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat away to second division East Preston in the John O'Hara League Cup. David Walker scored twice.

In Rich City County League division one, Sidley crushed Southwick 7-0 with Dave Ward grabbing a hat-trick.
