Haywards Heath cannot wait to get back home after suffering a third successive narrow away defeat.

They went down 15-13 at unbeaten Norwich in London One after a tremendous display.

Mark Pymm stunned the hosts by jinking through for a fifth minute try which Owen Ashton converted. Norwich responded with two tries by their backs but two Ashton penalties kept his side in the contest.

Ashton also hit the crossbar with a first half drop goal.

Stuart Charnely enjoyed an excellent debut at full back and can look forward to impressing home supporters in next week's visit from Sutton and Epsom.

Skipper Henry Goodburn said: "I was proud of the guys. We probably deserved to come away with at least a point but we were really pleased with our performance."

Huw Jenkins was outstanding in his first game of the season at hooker but pulled a hamstring with 20 minutes to go.

Sheppard switched to hooker, with No. 8 Glenn Rankin throwing into the lineouts, but Heath's set pieces were affected by the switches.

Goodburn added: "Now we are looking forard to defending our unbeaten home record."

Sussex Two East leaders Seaford beat Plumpton 46-13 with Simon Baker scoring a try, four conversions and a penalty. There were also tries for Ian Woodward (2), Gavin Hutt, Karl Kristensen, James Tindall and Danny Newby.

Old Brightonians continued their decent start as Mark Dodd, Gerald Bush and Marc Heal scored in a 23-3 win at Burgess Hill. Tony Winch added a conversion and two penalties.

Newick were 37-7 winners at Ditchling helped by two tries, two conversions and a penalty from Liam Craig-Davies. Adam Wrench crossed twice and there were scores for Steve Curtis and Mark Andrews.

Pulborough lead Sussex Two West after a 57-0 win at Shoreham but skipper Will Lawes warned: "We have got plenty to work on."

Scores came from Jason Hughes (2), Ed Rydon (2), Andy Cotton, Lawes, Jon Scrase, Jonny Page and Dave Collard. Richard Walters kicked six conversions.

Two tries from lock Gary Phillips put Royal and Sun Alliance on course at home to Norfolk Arms. It finished 28-12 as Andy Stephenson and Carl Nicholas also went over.

Nigel Lord's double was a highlight of Barns Green's 41-5 win at BA Wingspan. Dale Pearless (2), Darren Smith and Jonathan Anderson also crossed. Arun defeated rock bottom Midhurst 19-0.
