A tiny connector could save mobile phone users the frustration of flat batteries.

The PhoneSaver key ring pumps power into a mobile phone battery by drawing the charge from a nine-volt battery.

Hove-based Jacqui Andrews has set up Attitude Marketing to market the device.

She said: "The key ring is an emergency charger and can really help people in urgent need of making a call. All you need to do to make it work is buy a standard nine-volt battery and plug it into the phone via the key ring to give instant charge.

"There is enough power in a nine-volt battery to raise the charge level in a phone to about 30 per cent, depending on the model.

"This is anything from ten to 60 minutes of talk time or three to eight hours standby. There are different styles of key ring with connectors suited to all the major phones."

The various key rings convert the battery power into the correct voltage for each model and will keep pulling charge from the battery until there is no power left.

Ms Andrews spent several months preparing the product for sale through her own company.

She said: "I was sent a sample key ring by the manufacturer who was looking to break into the UK market.

"I realised what a great idea it was after I used it myself.

"It made me think about how many other people could benefit, from parents worried their children will not save enough charge to call for a lift home to the business user waiting for a vital call."

Ms Andrews has set up a web site to promote the key rings at £6.95 each and orders can be placed online.
