I am puzzled by some of the placards carried by protesters outside the Brighton Centre at the start of the Labour Party conference, proclaiming: "Britain and US stop the bombing of innocent women and children."
Some readers' letters also bear a distinctly anti-US tone.
Perhaps I've got it wrong - I thought it was innocent US civilians, including women and children, as well as hundreds of British and other nationals, who died under the rubble of the World Trade Centre.
