Crawley are preparing to gamble on the fitness of defender Keith Sharman as they bid to recapture their FA Cup glory days.

Reds faced Football League opposition three times in the Nineties, but they last played in the first round proper in 1994.

Fareham Town stand in their way tomorrow and Sharman could be needed if, as expected, Anton Romasz leads the Wessex League outfit's attack.

Romasz was a prolific goalscorer with several Sussex clubs before linking up with former England international Mark Chamberlain at Cams Alders.

Sharman has missed several games because of a recurrence of the knee problems which sidelined him for much of last season.

Boss Billy Smith said: "Keith is not quite 100 per cent. He saw the physio again last night and it might well be that we have to take a risk with him, I'm concerned about the number of goals we've been letting in."

With Marc Pullan recovered from flu, Smith is poised to name his first choice central defensive pair while top scorer Warren Waugh and midfielder John Ugbah, who were both rested in the midweek cup win over Crowborough, are back in the squad.

Midfielder Jimmy Dack (knee) is a doubt, but he should be in the squad which travels to Hampshire.

Smith added: "We've had them watched twice and it will be their cup final so we will have to be at our best."

Eastbourne Borough boss Garry Wilson admits his side are underdogs for their tie at Ryman League pacesetters Gravesend.

Wilson watched the Kent outfit go top of the premier division with a 3-0 win over Hendon last week and admits they are 'a pretty good side.'

He added: "We'll have our work cut out, but we have already won up there against Dartford and it's a lovely big pitch which will suit us.

"We're the underdogs, but that doesn't mean we're not capable of getting a result."

Andy Ducille (knee), Paul Stevens (bruised toes) and Steve Willard (ankle) are all injury worries while a back injury seems certain to keep out defender Ben Austin.

Horsham hope to have lucky charm Tommy Warrilow back for their FA Cup trip to Bracknell.

The former Crawley star has missed Hornets' three defeats this season but has otherwise been a regular at the back.

Boss John Maggs said: "I brought him in last season to help me out up front but he has got himself in great shape and is doing extremely well in defence."

Lewes have released former Albion youngster Conor McCurdy.

The teenager is surplus to requirements following the signings of Graham Mackay and Liam O'Brien.

Mackay is cup-tied for tomorrow's cup game at home to Gosport while Cameron Johnson and Ryan Hackett are injured and Paul Stokes is banned.

Hassocks host Ryman divison one strugglers Bromley and boss Dave John said: "We are in with a real chance."
