Plans for a new Mid Sussex secondary school are expected to be approved this week.
The proposals for the building in Burgess Hill have already been given outline planning permission and it is thought they will receive full approval despite concerns about congestion, safety and design.
The proposal is for an 800-pupil secondary school complete with playing fields, playgrounds, car parking, access roads, cycle and pedestrian routes and a caretaker's house to be built on land at West End Farm, Jane Murray Way.
Concerns had been raised about the appearance of the school which is to be located on the main route to Burgess Hill.
The refuse area and plant room were prominent in the original designs and it was felt this gave a poor first impression of the town.
Councillors were also worried about pupil safety, increased traffic, lack of parking spaces and a dearth of room for expanding sixth-form facilities.
But after consultation, planning officers have recommended approval be given.
The decision will be taken at a meeting on Thursday.
