Presenter Zoe Ball has checked out of The Priory, her Channel 4 TV show.

Zoe, 31, who lives in Hove with DJ husband Norman Cook, told programme makers she wants to spend more time with baby son Woody.

Her decision puts an end to the popular music and chat show, which is broadcast live, although bosses at Ginger Productions say there will be one-off specials in future.

Co-presenter Jamie Theakston, from Ditchling, has taken a new Saturday slot at Radio1 and is also recording a travel programme.

Zoe said: "I've decided not to sign up for any work for the foreseeable future because I really want to take more time to be a mum.

"Working on The Priory has been great but I haven't agreed to do another series. Things are different when you have a child. Commuting is hard."

A spokeswoman for Ginger said: "The last run of The Priory went on for 28 weeks, which is a huge commitment.

"The whole issue with Zoe is that she can't spend six months a year working on the show.

"We're looking to develop Priory specials because people really love the format and we're working on new programme ideas for both Zoe and Jamie.

"There will not be another series of the Priory but it hasn't closed completely."
