Eastbourne police are hunting a teenager who headbutted another youth and broke his nose.
A passer-by managed to scare off the attacker and his friends after the incident in Milfoil Drive at 1.20pm on Saturday.
The offender is described as white, 5ft 8in tall and of medium build. He wore a white T-shirt.
He was with two other youths of about 16 who were 5ft 9in tall and of medium build. One wore a yellow checked shirt and the other had a Nike baseball cap.
Eastbourne police want to speak to the witness who frightened the boys off and anyone who knows the offender's identity. Anyone with information is asked to call 0845 6070999.
