Imagine the horror I felt when my neighbour asked me what I felt about having a mobile phone mast erected virtually next door to my home.
He then took me to look at a notice taped to the lamp post which stated that a communication company intended to erect a mast, ten-metres tall, not only yards from my home but at the entrance to a park and close to local schools.
On phoning the council, I was advised that, unless the mast is higher than 15 metres, no planning permission is required.
Where am I talking about? Hangleton Way, opposite West Way, on a small grass verge next to the Greenlease entrance.
Come on residents, let's get together and say no to the mast. Unless we show a united front, we are not likely to achieve anything.
Any letters should be sent to the Chief Planning Officer at Hove Town Hall before September 4, 2001.
