John Williams clean bowled six of his seven victims as Crawley Down's successful weekend got underway with an eight-wicket win over Lingfield.

Down won the Wisdom Cup final on Sunday but before that Williams took 7-26 as visitors Lingfield were skittled out for 101. Down then eased home with Matt Freun making 43 not out.

There is daylight between Newchapel and the rest of the chasing pack at the top of division one following their whopping 161-run win over lowly Staplefield.

Newchapel wracked up 257-7 with Ian Bennett (77) and Grant Bateman (54). Mark Shrubb made 44 but Staplefield's interest ended on 96 with John Thompson taking 5-19.

Streat amassed 223-7 with Micky Bell (79) and Nigel Ordway (78) putting on 147 for the second wicket. In reply, Horsted Keynes made 226-5 with Stuart Fuller (71) and Dave Lancaster (66) adding 143 in another second wicket stand.

Second-placed Dormansland restricted Plumpton to 150 despite Derrick Taylor's 81. In reply, the hosts were dismissed for 133 as Gary Plummer took 6-58.

Dave Parsons (83) and Ken Probert (65) helped Hurstpierpoint to 178-7 but Balcombe eased to a seven-wicket thanks to Bob Newcomb (89).

In the Wisdom cup final, Crawley Down beat division two Sunnyside by 43 runs after making 241-3 with Steve Barton (38) and man-of-the-match "Willie" Rushton (83) adding 101 for the first wicket before Chris Pelling hit 66 off 56 balls.

It was always going to be difficult for Sunnyside chasing the highest target set in the final and although Kevin Twort (62) and Andy Bailey (50 not out) made things respectable, they were never in the hunt.

Division two: Balcombe 179-8 (Neil Cowan 63, Jeremy Durrant 5-22) drew with East Grinstead III 233-7 (Paul Templeman 80, Tom Gwynne 67); Clayton 181-3 (Alex Hislop 54no) beat Forest Row 178-8 (Neil Divall 52, Alex Hislop 4-42); Edenbridge 223 (Phil Millard 77, Will Champness 4-55) drew with Sunnyside 177-8; Hartfield 235-7 (Steve Medhurst 123no, Jon Walsh 4-65) beat Haywards Heath III 101 (Jan Ball 4-30); Plumpton II 113-4 beat Cuckfield III 112; Smallfield 160-8 (Matthew Cutress 4-28), Poynings 164-8.
