A father is offering a £500 reward after his 15-year-old son was seriously injured in an unprovoked attack.

Gary Crowley hopes the money will encourage information leading to the conviction of the two men who assaulted his son James outside Hove station.

The teenager was so badly injured he had to undergo plastic surgery on his mouth.

James, who lives with his mother in Southwick, said: "I was walking along the road with three mates when we were approached by two men and a woman.

"One of the men grabbed me and held me up against a bus stop while the other smashed me in the face with a beer bottle. I looked down and there was blood everywhere."

James momentarily lost consciousness and the men walked off.

A person drinking in the nearby Station bar rushed to James' aid and a kebab shop worker called an ambulance.

The teenager was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and later went to Chichester Hospital for plastic surgery.

Mrs Crowley, 44, said: "It is horrendous to think someone could do this."

James's family urged witnesses who may have been drinking in the bar to come forward. They are hoping CCTV footage may provide clues.

Mr Crowley, 44, who lives in Surrey, said: "I want these men caught before they do it again."

The men were described as white and aged between 20 and 25.

Anyone with information about the assault, on August 1 shortly before 11pm, should call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999.
