Bobby Zamora had Albion boss Micky Adams purring last night.

Zamora the Scorer, who hit 31 goals to lead the Seagulls to the third division championship last season, scored twice and made the third as Albion overcame non-league Folkestone Invicta.

Adams said: "He's a goal-scorer, isn't he? If he gets the chance, nine times out of ten he'll score goals.

"Let's hope it continues. He's making headlines again but that's good, I love that because that means he's scoring goals."

Adams was pleased with the debut of Geoff Pitcher, signed from non-league Kingstonian.

He said: "He had a decent debut. There were some good performances out there, but the important thing is that everybody is working hard.

"I'm concerned about fitness levels and seeing us progress on a match-to-match basis.

"We made mistakes but we made mistakes against Worthing on Tuesday night and I'm not getting too upset about it.

"We tried 4-3-3 but the previous night we played 4-4-2. We're trying different ideas and combinations and hope we'll pick the right one against Cambridge in our first match in the league, when it really matters."

Adams fielded a completely different line-up to the one which defeated Ryman League Rebels.

He said: "I think that shows our strength in depth."

Albion face Aldershot and Hailsham with two more 'Brighton XIs' on Saturday.

Adams said: "All the pros are going to get 90 minutes in the two games."

But there is an injury doubt over midfielder Steve Melton, who came off during the defeat of Dr Martens premier side Folkestone.

Adams said: "Steve has got a slight thigh, nothing major, but it's too early to say whether he'll be fit for Saturday."
