Sussex bowlers Jason Lewry and Mark Robinson are set to be offered new deals.

The club's committee met last night and although the county refused to reveal the length of the contracts on offer, chairman Don Trangmar believes negotiations will be concluded in the next few days.

He said: "Talks are underway with Jason and Mark, hopefully they will accept what we offer in the next week or so."

Lewry has taken 40 Championship wickets this season, including a career-best 13-79 in the innings win over Hampshire ten days ago.

The 30-year-old turned down the offer of a year's extension last winter, but is set to be offered a longer deal possibly with the promise of a benefit.

Robinson is enjoying some of the best form of his career. A regular in the one-day team, he has taken 19 Championship wickets at an average of just 18.09.

Twelve players were due to be out of contract at the end of the season, but the county have already awarded new two-year deals to Bas Zuiderent, Matt Prior and Michael Yardy.

Skipper Chris Adams should be fit for the start of today's Championship match against Durham at the Riverside (11am).

Adams aggravated a calf strain he picked up during practice and had to leave the field during Monday's Norwich Union League win over Essex at Hove.

He said: "I iced it in the dressing room and it got better as the evening wore on. I should be okay, providing there is no reaction."

Robinson's return for Billy Taylor is the only change to the team who won their fourth game out of five against Hampshire to cement Sussex's position in second place.

Coach Peter Moores said: "Billy can consider himself unlucky because he did nothing wrong. But we have the best new ball pair in the country at the moment backed up by Robbo who is third in the national averages so it's hard to look beyond them."

Robin Martin-Jenkins is still out and will have a scan tomorrow on the rib muscle injury which has now kept him out for nearly six weeks.

Durham's Danny Law and Martin Speight will line-up against their old county, but injury has ruled out former Sussex off-spinner Nicky Phillips as well as pacemen Simon Brown and Neil Killeen.

Sussex (probable): Montgomerie, Goodwin, Adams, Zuiderent, Yardy, Rashid, Prior, Davis, Kirtley, Lewry, Robinson. 12th man: Ambrose.

Sussex II play Pakistan's touring Cricket Academy in a one-day 50 overs match at Horsham tomorrow (11am).
