Councillor Ken Bodfish states (Opinion, July 5) the new parking is not a money-making scheme but is to prevent bad parking and corner parking.

He's using a club hammer to crack a nut.

If he had continued to use traffic wardens in conjunction with the police, bad parking would have been stopped and people going to work could have done so without this expense of elaborate parking meters and - in future, I'm sure - a towing-away system.

The people he's targeting are low-paid workers trying to get a crust of bread in a world where everything costs a fortune.

These are not TV stars, football millionaires or members of Coun Bodfish's office.

My daughter-in-law works in Blatchington Road. She comes each day from Shoreham and, at present, manages to park somewhere near her work.

After the introduction of scheme, it will cost her quite a lot more expense and worry each day. To date, her firm hasn't received a parking permit.

Coun Bodfish also states after six months the scheme will be reviewed.

Can he honestly say after all the expense of erecting hundreds of money-making machines he will tear them down? This is a money-making exercise and nothing more.
