The Napoleonic Wars of the 1800s were fought again at Newhaven Fort at the weekend.

Hundreds of spectators watched as up to 200 members of re-enactment groups throughout the country were put through their paces.

It was a rare opportunity for the military enthusiasts to take up arms as most of their summer engagements have been cancelled due to the foot-and-mouth scare.

Other attractions on the day included a fun run, line dancing demonstration, vintage military car show, bar, fun fair and human table football.
