It wasn't many years ago that Brighton and Hove Albion were homeless and almost out of the Football League.

Now the club has won its first championship since the Sixties and has been promoted into the Second Division.

Sussex turned out in force yesterday to cheer on the players as they rode in traditional style on the top deck of a bus.

It was a fitting triumph for the team, manager Micky Adams and the directors who have all contributed to the club's revival.

But there is much more to be done if Albion are to get back where they belong which could eventually be the First Division or even the Premiership.

Most of all the club needs a proper community stadium capable of accommodating big crowds in comfort.

Withdean Stadium has proved an excellent temporary home. But bold decisions are required in the next few months so that the club has only a year or two there before moving to a splendid new stadium at Falmer.
