Chichester coach Andy Barnes insists his side are not out for revenge when they take on Brighton and Hove in Sunday's Sussex Cup final.

Brighton caused an upset when they beat Chi in last season's final and Barnes is aware that his side must be cautious to avoid a similar result.

Revenge is not a word Barnes likes. He respects Brighton and is just hoping for a good final.

Those feelings are hardly surprising when you consider Barnes was Brighton's coach for the best part of five years.

He said: "Brighton will always be a really good part of my coaching experience. They are a good club.

"We are looking forward to a good game of hockey.

"They are a good team. As Bram (van Asselt), their coach, says, we probably have players more skilful than them but team wise they are excellent.

"It will be very close and I would not want to predict it."

Playing in a higher division, Chi will be favourites but the season has shown them to be unpredictable.

Brighton, meanwhile, have enjoyed a consistent campaign, following promotion last year by finishing third in the Kent/Sussex Regional League.

Skipper Carlo Missirian said: "We don't see it as a grudge match. Man for man they will be better than us. They play in a better league than us.

"But we have had a good season. It is nice to get into a final and we will give it our best shot."
