How we agree with D Porter (Opinion, April 19) on the shocking decline in broadcasting quality offered by Southern Counties Radio.

The programme presenters - who, with few exceptions, prefer to be referred to by colleagues on air as "stars" - appear to have few journalistic skills between them, many either being failed TV actors/presenters or wannabe actors.

JoAnne Good appears determined that every listener will be subjected to interminable episodes of her private life, while giving interviewees little chance to explain their position on any point with her constant, condescending interruptions.

The David Miller programme is one of the most embarrassing to listen to for its sheer amateurishness.

Bill Buckley constantly reminds of us his past life on television's That's Life and insists on trying to sing in tune at every opportunity.

The only saving grace for SCR at the moment is that Dominic Busby has been retained and now does the travel show from 4pm to 7pm, which, with his unique Yorkshire style of presentation, is the day's highlight.

Brighton and Hove and the southern counties deserve more than a bunch of failed luvvies as presenters.
