Sussex Thunder American Footall Club was formed in 1997 from a merger between Brighton B-52s and Crawley Raiders.

The team has performed well in competitions and, in 2000, they came near the top in the bowl.

Rain damage at the home ground of Withdean Stadium has prevented play at the venue this season. No alternative pitch could be found in time and a decision was made to withdraw from competitive football for 2001 to concentrate on building strong senior, youth and junior sections for the 2002 season. Training takes place in Brighton on Sunday mornings.

The club welcomes new players whether they be an experienced hand or a rookie.
