Sussex teams tumbled to their first home defeat of the season to a strong Norfolk side.

The Ladies B team and the Men's A side managed draws but the Men's B and Ladies A both lost.

The Ladies got Sussex off to a sound start as they drew 3-3 courtesy of Tina McGovern (Hast-ings), Chris Gladman (Littlehampton) and player of the match Trish Kidd (Littlehampton) with a 20.31 average.

Norfolk took a 4-2 first-half lead against the Men's B team. Sussex's winning sets came via Barry Jenkins (Crawley, 23.48) and a 3-2 victory from Dave Ansell (Billingshurst) including a 128 game shot.

Sussex had most of their experience in the second half of the draw but they all capitulated except Andy Sexton (Newhaven), who included a 15-dart last leg, and PoM Steve Agate (30.06 av). Norfolk swept to an 8-4 victory and an overnight lead of 11-7.

Sussex were full of hope for the second day's play but this soon disappeared as Norfolk grabbed a 4-1 lead. Only Karen Winter (Little-hampton) won for Sussex. The last set win kept Sussex in touch and PoM Donna Rainsley (Eastbourne) with a 20.00 average reduced the margin to 4-2 to Norfolk.

Sussex Men's A team were left with a mountain to climb but they forged a 4-2 lead in the first half with wins from Shayne Burgess (Bexhill), Adrian Gray (St Leornards), Steve Barraclough (Hastings) and PoM Ricki Blay (Lewes).

It was a different story in the second half as Sussex went down 4-2 as Geoff Taylor (Brighton) and plucky John Nisbet (Crawley) saw the A team to a deserved draw.

That was not enough to prevent Sussex losing the weekend 21-15 overall. Treasurer and Ladies A team player Chrissy Allen received an award for 200 Sussex appearances gathered over 27 years.
