ALBION are in the mood for six of the best to complete a promotion and championship double.

That is the message from jubilant boss Micky Adams ahead of today's going up knees-up against Darlington at Withdean (1pm).

The Seagulls clinched their first promotion since 1987-88 with Saturday's 2-0 win at Plymouth, a 1-0 home defeat for Hartlepool by Hull and Rochdale's 0-0 draw at Macclesfield.

Those results have already guaranteed Albion a place in the top three with six games still to play.

They now need 12 more points to claim their first title for 36 years, providing Chesterfield's recommended nine-point deduction for financial irregularities is upheld.

Adams said: "It feels great. It has been a long, hard season and the lads have worked really hard for this. They deserve as much credit as possible. Cardiff were beaten again on Saturday, which shows what pressure can do to you.

"These lads are in the mood that if we win all of our games we are champions.

"It doesn't matter then whether Chesterfield get deducted points and that is what we are going for.

"We are playing some quality football and everyone is enjoying it.

"We've got a good squad and it's a shame I can only play 16. A few more deserved to be at the party on Saturday, but I must remind everybody that we have got an important game today."

Albion had 1,300 fans at Home Park and the celebrations were loud and long once confirmation of the other results came through.

Adams said: "The fans have supported us through thick and thin. They have stuck by us.

"I think since the last promotion something like nine managers have come and gone and a lot of players have worn the shirt, trying to get this great club back where it belongs.

"I would like to dedicate this success to them all."
