Well, the season is now over. I was talking to Errol yesterday and we were saying that it hasn't sunk in yet that there isn't going to be a practice this week, or a game this weekend.

I guess it will take some time before it really feels like 'the off season.'

For me, I think it will happen when Vanessa and I go home to Canada. In the mean time, I am enjoying spending some free time around Brighton.

Kevin and Demetric left on Tuesday morning. They were both very excited to be going back to the States.

Errol has moved out of the team house and gone back to London, though he may come back next week to visit. As for the English guys (Mike included) I believe they are all staying in town for the summer. I am going to try to hook up with all of them before I leave.

Like most other people, I learned that coach is not coming back when I read the Argus on Monday afternoon. During the season and especially in the last few days, I have been asked for my thoughts on the issue.

Before the decision had been made I tried not to offer any opinion. I felt that, as someone who may be staying with this club beyond this season, I needed to be prepared for any decision regarding the head coach.

Now that the decision had been made, I am still trying to be objective about things. I feel very bad for coach and I also feel guilty for my role in his being released.

He gave me my start as a professional and for that I will always be grateful. On the other hand, when you choose basketball as a profession, you have to be prepared for these things to happen to you. It is not a career that is known for it's job security.

I have a friend back home who played professional basketball in Sweden for five years. He was forced to retire after a knee injury left him without a contract offer.

We took him out for a retirement party. At the end of the night he lifted a drain cover and climbed into the sewer, yelling that he couldn't live above ground without basketball. It took two hours to convince him to come out.

I don't think any of us need to worry about coach Dunning. I am sure he will bounce back and that he will be coaching big time basketball somewhere.

Finally, I would like to say thank you to everyone who is involved with the Brighton Bears. My wife and I really appreciate all the kindness we have received over the year.

We will never forget any of you and hopefully we will see you again someday.
