Brighton, a place to be? All candidates for the position of elected mayor should publish in detail their proposals to solve the following problems facing the city, all solutions to be practical and legal under present laws.

First, to close the ongoing illegal transient campsites set up by travellers and maybe provide a second, permanent site.

Second, to stop illegal parking by removing all vehicles parked on double yellow lines, bus stops and footways and double parked.

Third, to eradicate cruising on Madeira Drive.

Finally, to improve street cleaning and discourage dumping of rubbish.

Instead of claims such as "I will endeavour to overcome this problem", candidates should propose specific remedies. Residents would then weigh up the probable efficacy of the ideas put forward.
