Could someone tell us why thousands of sheep that are healthy but happen to be in fields adjacent to a case of foot-and-mouth disease have to be slaughtered?
Who can say in which direction the virus is spreading - it doesn't necessarily go in a straight line or a circle, so is this policy just a deadly gamble by Maff?
Also, what of the poor sheepdogs who have not lost their flocks? Will they be next for the cull?
