MONDAY: Danny Cullip boosts Albion by pledging to return from ankle and elbow ligament damage ahead of schedule.

"It's not going to be six weeks, less than four weeks hopefully," says Cullip. "It's unbelievable how much things have improved."

Cullip backs 18-year-old Adam Virgo to fill the gap. "Adam looks a good prospect. I've played with him a couple of times and he is a confident lad. He gets his head on to things and he's brave as well."

TUESDAY: Adams targets 92 points to clinch Albion's first title for 36 years. "Two points a game definitely gets you promoted and nine times out of ten it wins you the championship," he says.

"We are one point behind that target at the moment and if we get back on it we would be really unlucky not to win the League."

Trainees Shaun Wilkinson and Daniel Marney are offered one-year pro deals, but Andrew Beech, Conor McCurdy and Adam Davis are released.

Hartlepool beat Lincoln 1-0 at home, but the Seagulls still have a four point cushion over them with three games in hand.

WEDNESDAY: Albion head for a showdown with Brighton and Hove Council over plans for local club Withdean 2000 to share their temporary home again next season.

Chief executive Martin Perry says: "We are aware that Withdean 2000 have applied for admission into the Combined Counties League. We are very worried about the ability of the pitch in its current state to stand another men's football team."

An intended run-out for new signing Martin Thomas is ruined when another match for the reserves is postponed away to Reading. Albion respond to speculation linking Adams with the top job at his old club Southampton as Glenn Hoddle quits for Spurs. Perry says: "We've had no enquiry from Southampton in respect of our manager."

THURSDAY: Adams ends the Southampton speculation by declaring "I've got a job to do here."

Cardiff boss Alan Cork reveals he wanted to sign Thomas. "I tried to take Martin until the end of the season two weeks before Micky got him, but Swansea wouldn't deal with us," explains Adams' former assistant.

"Martin is a very aggressive, up and down midfielder. He has a lot of pace, works his heart out for the team and is a good all-round player."

FRIDAY: Charlie Oatway gives Albion a boost by resuming full training just 15 days after a knee operation.
