A crunch Brighton League Division One showdown ended with a 3-2 win for 147 A against their own B side.

Wins from John Gillard, Ben Evans and Tony Strange earned the A team victory in this clash between the top two. Simon Dent and Malcolm Egginton responded.

NARC A remained third despite a 4-1 defeat against Hyde A. Derek Charman, Neil Cutler, Roger Whiteley and Tim Kent were successful for Hyde A, with Dave Page grabbing a consolation frame.

Rottingdean moved into second place in Division Two after a 4-1 win over Electricity via Steve Burchett, J. Baker, Dave Speight and Dave Elliott, who recorded a new highest break in the division of 62.

Third placed Annunciation B lost 4-1 to Hyde, for whom Dave Alderton, Mark Ingram, John Reagan and Mike Yelland were successful.

Division Three leaders Pot Black D edged through 3-2 against lowly Bevendean Sports. Gary Tettersell and Andy Bartup won for Bevendean but Darren Bradley, Ricky and Paul Beecham saw the leaders through.

Second placed Hove Deep Sea Anglers were beaten by St Anne's B for whom Les and David Rea and Kevin Baker were winners. Jon Hall and Stuart Swanton replied.

NARC C grabbed third place in Division Four by beating Preston B 4-1 through Trevor Cain, Rob Jones, Luke Salter and Ian Trodd with Haydn Blunt responding.

Brighton Sports E's Anthony Potter, John Maskell, Carlo Lupi, Steve Presland and Danny Brooks secured a nap hand against Fire Brigade.

In Division 5, third placed Dyke Golf put all five past Century B through Ray Palmer, Richard Arnold, Adrian Milligan, Charles Harrison and Andrew Wood.

Hove Conservative C remained second in Division Six after wins from Peter Rawlinson, Tony Dade, Tony Woodward and Harold Franks.

NARC are still top of the Billiards League. They stretched their lead by 14 points over Champion House. Brighton Legion A stay in third place but have three matches still to play which means that anyone of the top three could be champions.

In Division Three Goring A have pulled off the amazing feat of going from bottom to top between January 25 and March 22.
