Asylum seekers are being invited to go clubbing on Saturday night by a prospective parlimanetary candidate.
Andy Richards, Socialist Alliance prospective parliamentary candidate for Hove, will be welcoming them to a club night in Brighton organised by Brighton and Hove Committee to Defend Asylum Seekers.
When he left the Labour Party earlier this year, Mr Richards blamed the Labour Government's policies on asylum as a major factor in his resignation.
He said: "When I think about some ministers' attitudes to asylum seekers, it seems to me that many Labour politicians want to play up to and exploit prejudices."
Mr Richards will be on the door with other members of the committee to welcome club goers, particularly asylum seekers, who will have free entry to the club on Saturday.
The Refugee Party, at The Joint night club in West Street, has been organised by the Boombastic DJs and the committee.
It is supported by Brighton and Hove City Council's Celebrating Diversity initiative and the club's management.
All proceeds will go to the Sussex Refugee Association, an organisation for asylum seekers and refugees.
